After months of snail’s pace progress in getting my blog back up and running and getting myself back to writing, I found my impetus – Leap Day!
I won’t go into the astronomical reasons for the ‘extra day’ every four years, nor will I revisit the silly superstitions about leaplings, nor the funny traditions that have come to be associated with this day. Suffice to say, I decided, when I realized yesterday that we were in a leap year (insert blush here), that Leap Day was a good time to declare my return.
Part of my typical procrastination pattern sees me looking for ‘appropriate’ start times for things depending on the time scale in question. I used to need to start studying on the hour or the half hour, I still prefer to start an exercise programme on a Monday and major resolutions seem best on the first day of the month. Lol! This time I decided to shortcut myself and just pick a reason to start on the next available day.
In any case, it sounds like a good personal tradition to start – leaping into something new for Leap Day.
I’m all about caution and careful preparation, but sometimes in life, we have to just take a leap. Some of the things I value most in my life came from such a leap.
What leap could you take today?
